Four Cypresses, Single | Grizzly Bear | 2017
by Anna Selle
“Four Cypresses,” the third single off of Grizzly Bear’s upcoming Painted Ruins is a rhythmic reflection on a chaotic world. Ruins will be the band’s first release since 2012’s Shields. After half a decade away, Grizzly Bear has been teasing us with sporadic single releases, reminding us why we fell in love with their melodramatic indie pop so many years ago. An illustration of sweeping change, “Four Cypresses” addresses the nature of impermanence and instability of the future.
